Men’s Cricket

  • A player in a team must be a resident of the society representing the team. Any team found violating this rule will be disqualified from the tournament and may not be invited for the subsequent year(s). Organizing committee has all authorities to ask the captain of a team to share residence proof for any player at any point in time.
  • This tournament would be played with Vicky Cricket-Tennis ball (Light).
  • Each innings would start with a new ball.
    • In case a ball is being lost or broken before two overs of an innings, then new ball would be issued.
    • If lost after two overs of an innings, old ball used in previous matches would be issued.
  • All matches would be of 10 overs.
  • Innings/Match Duration:
    • Each innings of a match must be completed in 40 minutes including 2 minutes strategic/drink break at the end of 5 overs and innings break is 10 minutes. Total match duration is 90 minutes. 
  • Team composition and Reporting time:
    • Each team will consist of maximum 20 members and only these 20 members will be allowed inside the player’s room.
      • 15 players (playing 11 + 4 extra players) mandatory.
      • 5 support staffs optional (Coaches, managers & physios).
  • Playing 11 to be picked from the initial 15 players list only. 
  • Team representative should report 30 minutes prior to the scheduled match start time.
  • Toss would be held 15 minutes before the start of the scheduled time. If captain of a team is not available at the Toss right on time, then the opponent team may be declared as the winner and awarded with winning points.
  • Entire team should be available at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled match start time.
  • On-field umpire’s decision would be the final one.
  • It is captain’s responsibility to uphold spirit of the game by his team. If any team misbehaves or abuses the umpires inside the field or outside the field or the opponent team during the match, the team will be disqualified from the tournament.
  • During league stage, for every win, a team would get 2 points and losing team won’t get any points.
  • In case of a tie in the league stages each team would get 1 point each.
  • In knockout/qualifier/eliminator matches, if a tie happens super over would be held.
  • Rules for super over:
    • The team batting second in the match will bat first in the super over.
    • 3 Batsmen from each team can bat and 1 bowler from each team will bowl
    • Entire fielding unit is allowed to field
    • In case super over is tied, below rules are applicable
    • Highest Number of 6’s (main + super over) – 1st priority
    • Highest Number of 4’s (main + super over) – 2nd priority
    • Least Number of wickets fallen (main + super over) – 3rd Priority
    • Above priority order will be followed only for main/knock-out matches.
  • In league stages if two teams are tied with same points, NRR would be taken into account and the team which has a better NRR would move to the knockout/qualifier/eliminator stage.
  • In case the NRR is same then super over will be played as per the super over rules described above. 
  • Any requests for change of match timings will not be entertained.
  • In matters of doubt not covered by the tournament rules, the decision of the tournament committee will be final and binding upon all concerned as per the standard rules.
  • Tournament will be played single wicket, that is, the batsman will play at one end and after the completion of over, umpires & batsman will change end.
  • Player’s T-shirt will be provided by the organizers in advance (before the start of the tournament). It is obligatory to wear full / track pant by a player. Shorts/Half pants are not allowed.
  • Organizing committee should not be held accountable for any injuries happening during a game.

Batting Rules:

  • LBW is not applicable.
  • Byes, and overthrow are applicable for this tournament. Leg byes not applicable.
  • All “no-balls” (As per ICC rules: front foot, side-line, above the waist (direct delivery), fielding restriction etc.) result in a free hit in the next delivery, where field can be changed only if the batsman has crossed over or no ball is due to Field restriction.
  • A runner can be used only when a player gets injured during the innings or during fielding. A runner cannot be used for a player who is injured before the start of the match / tired during the match.
  • The runner can be used only with the discretion of the umpires depending on the reason/cause and consent from the opposition captain.
  • All the other ICC cricket rules are applicable as it is.
  • Minimum 5 bowlers to be used to complete the bowling quota of an innings.
  • A bowler can bowl maximum 2 overs in a match.
  • One bouncer is allowed per over, provided the ball passes between the shoulder and the head, However, ball passing over the head will be declared as a wide.
  • Chucking is strictly not allowed and if batsman at strikers or non-strikers end appeals against the action it’s left to the umpires on field and organizing committee to analyze the action and if they find a problem, they could warn the bowler. If the bowler continues with the same action umpires could call a no ball.
  • Wicket keeper if wants to bowl, he could bowl but before that it’s his/captain’s responsibility to inform the umpire about the change of wicket keeper. This needs to be ensured by fielding captain & in case missed out, umpire could call the delivery as no-ball.
  • All the other ICC cricket rules are applicable as it is.
  • Power play is applicable for the first 3 overs of an innings, only 2 fielders are allowed outside 30/35 yards (inner circle).
  • After power play stage, minimum 4 fielders (excluding Bowler and Wicket Keeper) are allowed within 30/35 yards (Inner circle). Maximum 5 Players are allowed to field on either side of the ground.
  • During the course of bowling action, fielders other than wicketkeeper are allowed to move only in forward direction but not on sideways. Umpire can call it as no ball, if this rule is violated causing distraction.
  • During the course of bowling action, fielders including wicketkeeper are not allowed to make any noise which distracts the batsman. Umpire can call it as No ball, If the fielders are making such noise.
  • The umpires shall have discretion to allow, for wholly acceptable reasons, a substitute fielder to act for a nominated player, at the start of the match, or at any subsequent time.
  • All the other ICC cricket rules are applicable as it is.
